Should China just back off in the Spratly Islands dispute?

These tiny pieces of islands which is considerably far from them. They're acting like kids. I think they should just give way to Vietnam and the Philippines which we all know badly needs resources for their economic growth. China has many other ways of making itself rich. Why are they becoming greedy and stomping these poor little countries?
