Why are people so hateful and make personal judgments against others they don't know?

I've asked a number of questions in forums like these; questions asked honestly and asked so that I may acquire a little knowledge and see what others think and feel but, it's been my observation that people never seem to read the question thoroughly before they fire off something insulting and rude. It's almost like people are laying in wait for a simpleton like me to come along so they can build their self-esteems up while stomping all over mine. Is this the way to show a level of intelligence? Maybe this is why I've never made it in this society, I'm not angry enough, not quick witted enough or my vocab is too short of words. I can't wait to see the arrogant, degrading responses I get from this. I apologize if my questions are not intellectually challenging or that I seem to dumb for anyone to take seriously, but I only ask questions to learn. I have a dog so I don't need a friend and I have most everything I need. I had family who loved me and they took care of me when they died. They knew I was not able to take care of myself. I'm very simple and I want nothing but to be respected. I think most everyone wants that. Now, fire away and let's see who can be the nastiest of you all or, just answer the question.
